Your closest neighbors just moved in. Emerald
Gardens is a new
development of lofts and townhomes 1 block south. Graduate students,
artists, young professionals. Also people in their forties, fifties,
sixties too – people who have a life. Not into raking large
lawns for hours. Dogs and cats may apply. It’s a neighborhood.
Neighbors to the West
- Prospect Park – bragging rights to the oldest neighborhood
association in the Twin Cities. Fierce about the environment,
protecting the riverfront. Quite a few professors.
- The city’s only Frank Lloyd Wright house. A house that’s
bright blue. Independents.
- The U of M
- Cedar Riverside
- Dinkytown and
7 Corners
Neighbors to the North
St. Anthony Park. People who banded together to restore
a historic library with a dome. They hold an open art fair in the
park every year. Next to U of M St. Paul campus and a seminary that
looks like a giant park. Has a town square, a Scandanavian bakery
and a Bibelot. No house is the same.
